Influences at the moment

Thanks to my daughter who was saying in passing that Jean Michel Basquiat's paintings were somewhat reminiscent of my own spurred me to watch the documentary about him The Radiant Child and now am inspired by him and his contemporaries. Note the colors of the Andy Warhol's Marilyn. They are similar to my cowgirl and I didn't realize.

Dear God in Heaven!

I love this Miu-Miu collection.  The shortness of the dresses and the schizophrenia going on with the mixed prints. Love it ALL!

Gosh, I might actually be inspired again.

I have to get out of the house. I have been working soooooo hard on my retail store mountainmagicsportswear.ca that I haven't had any energy to write. I am very good at starting projects but find it a challenge to keep it going. This image and other Miu-Miu for Resort/12, got the juices flowing again. I love it ALL!!

WOW!!! I wish I had money right now. I am dying to buy these clothes. I still need to lose 6 lbs so it's O.K. but I am almost in my 120's again. Took me a year to get it off again. I am still about three weeks away. Will take photos on the fateful day!!

The Long and the Short of it!

Remember the post on short hair and how to make it interesting. This shows my take. I want short hair for the summer so I can golf without a hat all the time but I don't just want short hair. Here's the house cut, hee hee.
 Lots of hair on top , cut close on the sides,  some hair below ear, to keep it girlie. That's the key!

What makes Kate Moss so cool?

Does Sarah Palin have good style?

No!
 Don't get me wrong. Sarah Palin is a very attractive woman and has the" bones" to be stylish but I don't think she really knows how.  Maybe she doesn't care. I somehow think she does.
 It is a bunch of little things that she does or doesn't do that have her falling short. Her suits are too stiff and too average for her looks. The colors are too primary when they should have nuance.

The blue isn't quite right for the style. Should be very dark if stiff and a softer shape if this electric blue. Don't like the 3/4 sleeves. Kinda old fashion. I don't like the stand up collars she wears all the time. Too stiff and harsh for her. Let's look at another

I don't like anything about this, the collar, the 3/4 sleeves, the big black buttons, the boxy style. It looks cheap!

 Again (above). I don't like anything about this outfit. I think it's too tight and the jacket is too short,the 3/4 sleeves again. I don't like the boots. I would rather have black opaque stockings. I don't like the low top under the jacket. If she wears boots she needs the weight of a higher neck under the jacket.
 It's a bunch of little things and it takes years to get these things down.

Let's compare this with Kate Middleton's style. Both are very conservative so it's good comparison I think, except that Kate has style .

 This suit is perfect! I love the color for the style. The length is very young and fresh but conservative. I love the small collar and the length of the jacket and the length of sleeves(longer is better). Shoes are perfect, not too dainty. They have weight but not too high fashion for the conservative look. She hits all the notes here.
 The red suit(below) is perfect as well. Compare with Sarah Palin's. I love the collar with the black sweater under instead of high stiff collar or the low tank in second Palin shot. I  love the length of jacket which is longer than Sarah Palin's. The buttons are smaller as well and the sleeve length is correct

I love the gloves to match the weight of the t-neck. She is wearing black opaque stockings which continues the weight of this perfect "cool day" outfit. Her hair isn't a distraction as it always is with Sarah Palin and the less is more makeup is much better.
I could go on and on as I will in next post. There is soooo much to talk about here.

Just thought you might wonder about my blog title page.  I loved that year. My favorite I think. I have had many but this was great. My mullet by the great Don Vooys and my favorite Adrienne Vittadini sweater with shoulder pads. Loved it

It's amazing how important MONEY is, in our society today!!

I'm sorry! It's not that it makes you happy but when you don't have it, it is very stressful, no question about it. I have been thinking about business all the time and tend to neglect myself. NO MORE! Here we go again. When did I say this reinvention was suppose to start heehee! Let me check. Good Lord, it was Jan 2/11 and it's now June2/11.Today

Approaching my 62nd birthday. It was hard to get a half decent picture taking myself at store but here we go. Hair, kinda mess, weight 134lbs and suppose to have lost 12 lbs. Oh well. Fat sweater still on hee hee!

I am going to post about this darn thing each day if I can along with my style tips which I hope you enjoy!! Would love your comments.

Silver Lame! Yeaaaahhh! Hee Hee!

This was a silver lame dress I made in the 80's and with it an Italian dressy sweater from "Antonella Ore". If you look at Black Eyed Peas and Lady Gaga, they are wearing  a lot of it. It is very cool! Kinda trashy, but remember, cool is a bit of trash here and there!
